What Type of Roofing should I have for my Conservatory?
Glass is highly durable, quiet in a rainstorm and has excellent insulating properties. It can be supplied in clear toughened right through to self cleaning argon filled blue active glass. Obviously the higher specification double glazed units tend to be more expensive than their clear toughened counterparts but do produce a very attractive roof.
Polycarbonate is normally supplied in 35mm thick panels and again is available in various colours. There is also an option called heatguard which effectively reflects the full rays of the sun back off the roof to keep the conservatory cooler on those rare hot days. Polycarbonate has the advantage of being very durable and cheaper than glass. It is purely a matter of how much extra you may want to spend and down to your own personal choice.
