1. Set a regular bedtime

2. Take no stimulants after 6pm

These food and drinks boost your metabolism, raise your blood pressure and affect your brain responses. Stimulants may be useful while at work, but at night, they make it difficult to enter a relaxed sleep. Avoid stimulating food and drinks after 6pm, or at least four hours before bedtime. 3. Prevent bedtime allergies
Bedding that has not been washed for over a week can contain tiny dust and skin mites that can trigger a mild allergic reaction that prevents you sleeping. Pets sleeping in your bedroom can also have a similar affect.
Wash your pillows and bed linen every few days, and put the cat and dog out of the bedroom.

5. Paint your bedroom blue

6. Be lazy
If you think of creative or work-related ideas in bed, resist the urge to write down all your thoughts or compile long task lists, as this will stimulate your mind too much. Spend five minutes writing down the main points, and then allow your mind to become lazy and switch off.
