Our Energy Rated Windows Are The Business
Everyone knows that compared with original wooden sash windows, steel framed windows and every other type of single glazing, PVCu windows were a huge leap forward. Undoubtedly this was true and many homes fitted with the dreaded ‘double glazing’ were made far more comfortable as a result. This included lack of draughts that was a feature of every house I grew up in!
Fast forward a decade and the new wonder double glazed Pilkington ‘K’ glass unit was born. These were quite effective at keeping in more heat during the winter months which was good for our pockets but they did have a slight greenish tint to them which was not to everyone’s taste. The other disadvantage of this tint was when replacing a window in a room with two or more. You could see the colour.
Two to three years ago, a completely new kind of glass unit was created which when used with the correct PVCu window frames, managed to achieve an energy rating in the same way that electrical appliances are marked up from G to A. A being the best and G being the worst. Prior Products Limited are innovators and not wanting to miss out on these new windows, started to manufacture our own and submit them for testing by the BFRC. See www.bfrc.org.uk for details.
Our windows were the first for miles around to be type approved and we now offer a ‘C’ rated window as standard. These are far and away better than K glass or anything else to date and the A rated windows manufactured by us are the best on the market today. The nice bit is that they make such a significant saving on heating costs that we all save when they are fitted, and the gas, oil and electricity companies loose out. That is a shame is it not?
