Now everywhere has had a good clean it’s time to tackle your cupboards. Have a good clear out of your kitchen cupboards as well as sorting through your wardrobes. Once boxed up consider either having a garage sale or give your unwanted items to the local charity shop.
Change Your Accessories
A quick and easy way to change the look and feel of a room is to redress the room with different accessories. So for example swap heavy woollen throws and curtains for light weight bed covers and simple light weight curtains. Add a splash of spring colour with vases full of daffodils, irises and tulips.
Change Your Furniture
Now it would be nice if you could change your furniture like you do your accessories however this for most is not a practical or affordable idea. But you can move pieces around and rearrange the room. If you have a great view of the garden that you didn’t take much notice of over the winter, because your furniture was grouped to face the fire, then now is the time to move sofas and chairs about so you can see the garden from the comfort of your chair.
Re think Your Wall Colour Choice
Spring is a great time to redecorate your home. It is also a really cheap way to totally change the look of a room. By simply changing just the accent wall in a room this can have a dramatic change to how the room looks. Consider using a bright vibrant colour on an accent wall this can really brighten the room. You don’t have to paint everywhere white to make the room look lighter.

Change the Internal Doors
Solid internal doors can make hallways or smaller rooms seem dark and create a barrier so natural light can’t spread through the house. Where appropriate change solid doors for glass panelled doors and even consider adding French doors into adjoining rooms, this will make the rooms seem bigger, lighter and more spacious.
Add A Glass Front Door
A glass panelled front door will allow the natural light to spill into your hallway. If you are concerned about privacy you can use etched glass or patterned glass to provide some privacy but still allow in the natural light.
Widen Door Ways
Where suitable opening up doorways and fitting double French doors or bi folding doors will instantly make a room flow and seem larger. It also gives a more open plan feel if used between two rooms; you will still be able to close off a room by closing the doors when needed.
