Whats is GRP?
Some of our canopies are manufactured from GRP. What is this?
GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic (or Glass Reinforced Polyester). Also known as Glass Fibre or Fibreglass, it has a host of uses. It is a composite material, made by combining millions of glass strands, each one thinner than a human hair, in a polyester resin. Without the glass fibres the resin would simply shatter, but when the composite sets it creates a very strong durable material.
GRP has a very high strength to weight ratio, will not corrode or dent and is not subject to bacterial infestation. This makes it an ideal maintenance free material for manufacturing door canopies.
