Energy rated PVCu windows – the advantages explained
Everyone has heard about these energy rated PVCu windows and how good they are and how, if we all had them fitted to our homes, we would be saving the planet and getting richer to boot. However what makes these windows so different from your common or garden double glazed window? I will explain the advantages below….
The first thing to realize is that our BFRC energy rated PVCu windows will reduce your carbon footprint and lower your energy bills. This is achieved by using our superb Rehau S 706 PVCu profiles for the window frames and then combining these with our specially made energy efficient 28mm glass units. We offer two ratings, these being a ‘C’ rating window or the top of the range ‘A’ rating. So what makes these different?
Both glass units use Planitherm Total 1.1 low E soft coat glass and float glass for the inner pane of the unit. This is then Argon filled and equipped with an aluminium spacer bar. When used in our frames, this has been rated as a ‘C’ by the BFRC. To achieve an A rating, the same frames are used but the spacer bar in the glass unit is ‘Thermobar’ and we use Planitherm Total 1.1 for the inner pane and Diamante softcoat glass for the outer one. These windows are highly thermally efficient and transmit almost no heat from the inner to the outer pane. This means that your hard earned heating stays in your house.
You may be certain when using Prior Products that the windows are exactly what we say they are with regards to energy ratings. Each window will have an official label on it with our BFRC registration number and the rating of that particular window.
