Remember that feeling of accomplishment and admiration when you first moved into your current house/flat and you decorated it based on your desires and preferences? And remember the moment when that feeling was gone? No one can point their finger to the exact moment when their home started to look ordinary and boring, but it is clear that every update would be rather welcomed. The revamping of your home does not have to cost a king’s ransom. There are some small changes that can be done with limited budget, while not depriving your home of the new breath of life it craves for. Here are some of them.
Repurpose Items With the growing popularity of DIY instructions on the web, it seems that just about anything can be done with your own two hands and items you already own. Though it is not that simple, it is far from being false. Search through your attic, basement, shed or other storage sections, for items that can be repurposed. For instance, you can use old ladder to create a vintage shelf or old jars or pencil boxes as makeup brush holders. The possibilities are unlimited.
Adorn the Walls
The walls are instant attention-grabbers. Adding some works of art that do not have to cost a fortune will live up the space. You can even start your quest for art at a local flea market. Hanging family photographs is also a nice way to adorn your walls. Make it more appealing by making some theme (using the same or same style frames, hanging just photos of smiles or hand holding or portraying the passage of time with pictures starting your grandparents and ending with your children).
Update the Fireplace
Fireplace is, by its nature, the focal point of a living room, and that is why it deserves additional attention. Start with redecorating the mantle with unique accessories, but do not stop there. You can even decorate the fire, by adding Blazing Glass’ decorative fire glass. This will instantly turn your fireplace into attention-grabbing decorative piece, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the whole room and improve the heating efficiency.
Paint One Wall
By painting just one wall in the room in bright colour, you will make a bold statement, while not spending too much money on large amounts of paint. Observe all the colours in the room, and select one you wish to accentuate (it can be red photo frame, green table cloth, orange cushions, etc.), and paint
one wall that will be the focal point of the room. You can achieve similar effect by painting the door, cabinets, shelves, or some other conspicuous objects in one bright colour.
Warm Up Your Home with Accessories
One of the first associations to the word ‘home’ is ‘warm’. You can enhance that warmth by replacing all the cool metal accessories with wooden items which will enrich the space with rustic appeal. Adding some knit work or crochet details into your home decor will create the ambiance of comfort and warmth. A shag carpet will make you never want to go out from the house when it is chilly outside and plush bed covers and shaggy pillows will join the carpet in this great comfy conspiracy. Make sure that all of the accessories are in warm hues, so the impression of a warm and comfortable home would be complete.
There is no need to replace all the furniture, and let alone to search for a residence. You will see that just by implementing these few simple and affordable changes, your home will yet again be the place you first fell in love with.
