An Amazing Story of A 9 Year Old Boy And What He Did With His Garage!
One 9 Year Old Boy And A Garage Who Would Have Guessed It…
His name is Ken, he is nine years old and he is from the Philippines, his dream for the past year has been to run a no-kill dog shelter of his very own. Well that dream is now a reality and thanks to his dad and some very kind donations Ken has achieved something truly amazing.
Kens dad Kay decided to follow his son one day out of curiosity to see where he went every day – to his surprise he found that is loving son was looking after 3 very poorly stray puppies and from there the two of them rescued the pups and so an amazing story began…..
It all started when Ken posted pictures online this year of himself feeding stray dogs and the pictures went viral! Strangers started sending in donations from across the world to help him achieve his dream. Now with help from his dad and local people Ken is helping stray dogs recover from illness and diseases with the aim to finding them all loving homes.
Ken built a temporary shelter in the family garage for 3 puppies called Blackie, Brownie ad White puppy and named the shelter The Happy Animals Club.
Ken’s mission is simple and straight-forward: “The official at the pound said most dogs are put down because only 20-30% of owners claim their dogs, and no animal welfare organization is doing something about it. I want to save as many of those dogs as I can from being killed for no reason.”
“My dad told me it would take a lot of money and 20 years for me to get an animal shelter. He said only grown-ups can raise enough money to start an animal shelter,” Ken explains on his website “Happy Animals Club’s. “Some very kind people who saw these pictures donated money to help me care for the dogs. We got enough money to get the dogs I was feeding off the street, feed them high quality canned food, and provide them with veterinary care. They gained a LOT of weight, their open wounds healed, and their fur grew back. They also learned not to be scared of humans.”
Have a look at these images that helped Ken set up his non-profit no kill animal shelter.
Amazing how a little nine year old boy can be so kind and giving, prepared to help his furry four legged friends and expect nothing in return. Just shows that heroes don’t need capes they just have to have a big heart. Quite inspiring in today’s world and one of the most unusual garage conversions I’ve come across!
